The USA blooding in talent ahead of World Cup

The USA is on course on building and blooding talent into their squad ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, while many South Africans remain divided about the benefits of their national team’s camps since only local-based players are able to take part.

The USA fell 1-3 to fellow 2010 finalists Honduras in a friendly encounter without many of their key members doing duty in the European leagues. But the US’s head coach Bob Bradley was positive about the outcome nevertheless.

Speaking on ESPN’s First Take Bradley said: “It’s an opportunity to assess players, the whole camp is demanding.

“I think there was definitely some nerves on Saturday night as guys know that this is a big opportunity for them.”

When quizzed about his World Cup opponents the US mentor added that he was happy to begin with England as they’re the top ranked side in their group.

“It’s an amazing opportunity to start with England,” he said. “The guys are really excited.

“We have a number of players who are playing in England, so I think it’s going to bring a great amount of attention to one game.”

The USA is in Group C with England, Algeria and Slovenia.
